Internship in Generative AI & Design Automation

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern for the Generative AI & Design Automation team at SYSTRA. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects that leverage artificial intelligence to enhance engineering processes in mobility and transport infrastructure. As an intern, you will contribute to the transformation of high-value AI ideas into measurable business impacts.

What You'll Do

• Develop business cases for four strategic AI themes, focusing on delivering a pilot that meets defined acceptance criteria and value objectives.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews to map out pain points, data sets, constraints, and quantify value levers such as time savings, quality, risk, and cost.
• Build value trees and lean business cases for each theme, analyzing options (buy vs. prompt engineering vs. build), data/IT prerequisites, risks, and ROI ranges.
• Implement a scoped pilot using approved tools and secure environments, with measurable acceptance metrics.
• Execute an evaluation plan to consolidate results and propose a path towards activation and deployment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an engineering school (final or penultimate year), available for a full-time 6-month internship.
• Strong skills in Python and analytical problem-solving; comfortable with data manipulation and metrics.
• Curiosity about applying AI to real engineering/business problems; enjoy engaging with stakeholders.
• Clear communicator in English (French is recommended); capable of writing business cases and presenting results.
• Experience in LLMs/RAG, NLP for document workflows, computer vision, predictive analytics, or optimization is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with engineering domains (rail/infrastructure), project management/requirements, or bidding processes.
• Basic understanding of data governance and AI ethics in a corporate context.
• Academic or personal projects applying AI to real-world problems.
• Exposure to web development (Frontend/Backend/APIs & integration).
