About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Science Department to join our prestigious international school, Collège du Léman, part of Nord Anglia Education. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic team of educators in a collaborative and innovative environment. As the Head of Science Department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of our students while promoting our vision of excellence and internationalism.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and inspire the Science department, promoting our Vision, Mission, and RISE values.
  • Develop strategic plans for the department, collaborating with colleagues to establish a clear vision and learning plans.
  • Oversee curriculum leadership, ensuring the implementation and review of written curricula in accordance with our Curriculum Review Policy.
  • Manage departmental resources and facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents regarding academic performance.
  • Guide teachers through the Teacher Appraisal and Professional Development process, ensuring high-quality learning and effective teaching standards.
  • Coordinate and manage departmental examinations, ensuring alignment with course standards and reviewing results to inform curriculum development.
  • Participate in the recruitment and induction of new teachers, ensuring a smooth transition into the department.
  • Promote interdisciplinary curriculum design and development, providing students with opportunities to develop higher-order problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • University degree in a Science subject; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Recognized teaching qualification with experience in secondary education.
  • Experience teaching external examination courses (IB, IGCSE, AP).
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to teach more than one Science subject at IB or AP level.
  • Experience working in an international school environment is preferred.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a boarding school environment.
  • Familiarity with administrative aspects of IGCSE and IBDP programs.
  • Ability to integrate ICT into the curriculum effectively.
