Head of Marketing - Remote Position at Wave

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Marketing to join Wave, a company on a mission to make Africa the first cashless continent. As the Head of Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth across Wave’s Payments, Growth, and other core teams. This fully remote position allows you to work from anywhere in our talent hub countries, including the UK, Spain, USA, Canada, Kenya, and Ghana.

What You'll Do

• Lead and mentor a high-performing marketing team focused on achieving ambitious growth targets.
• Foster collaboration with other departments to ensure effective prioritization and execution of marketing activities.
• Manage relationships with external marketing agencies and internal PR teams to align on Wave’s response to policy and operational issues.
• Develop and execute multi-channel product marketing strategies, focusing on high-impact offline channels such as billboards and radio, supported by a robust social media content strategy.
• Monitor metrics to measure marketing campaign effectiveness and optimize overall marketing performance over time.
• Continuously improve messaging across all channels and target audiences.
• Identify and close deals with marketing-specific partners to enhance Wave’s market presence.
• Optimize customer acquisition costs by collaborating with the growth team to evaluate campaign performance and channel effectiveness.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and French is required.
• At least 10 years of experience in marketing at an FMCG, tech start-up, telco company, or similar.
• Experience developing or executing B2C marketing strategies in Africa.
• Willingness to travel frequently to operating markets.
• Strong storytelling skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

• Experience leading a successful functional marketing team that executed well in partnership with other teams.
• Prior experience in impactful brand strategy for a globally recognized company or a fast-growing startup.
• Strong analytical skills in optimizing customer acquisition costs.
