About the Role

We are seeking a talented English to Norwegian Patent Translator/LQA Specialist - Remote to join our dynamic team at Welocalize. In this exciting position, you will localize, translate, and adapt biology patents and related content while adhering to the writing style guide and guidelines. As an integral part of our team, you will perform linguistic quality assessments (LQA) of translated content from English (en-US) to Norwegian (nb-NO). This role offers you the opportunity to work remotely and engage with diverse international clients.

What You'll Do

  • Localize and translate biology patents and related content, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client-specific guidelines.
  • Perform linguistic quality assessments (LQA) of translations from English to Norwegian, identifying and correcting linguistic errors.
  • Provide detailed feedback to translators and create comprehensive quality reports to enhance translation quality.
  • Utilize CAT tools such as JIRA and XTM to review and assess translations efficiently.
  • Manage your weekly capacity to handle 2,000 - 5,000 words per locale, ensuring timely task completion.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in linguistics, translation, biology, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of work experience in translation, linguistic quality assessment, copywriting, or copy-editing, specifically in patents or technical content.
  • Deep understanding of biological terminology and ability to adapt complex scientific language for target audiences.
  • Exceptional command of English (en-US) and Norwegian (nb-NO).
  • Proven experience in reviewing or translating patents or technical documents.
  • Proficiency in using CAT tools like JIRA and XTM for project management and quality assessment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a freelance capacity, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
