Engineering Manager - Payments & Blockchain (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager - Payments & Blockchain to join our team at Kraken, a fully remote company dedicated to building the future of crypto. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team responsible for developing and scaling payment experiences and APIs that facilitate seamless fiat and crypto transactions across our ecosystem. What You'll Do

• Lead a team of backend and frontend engineers to build high-quality, reliable, and scalable applications.
• Drive the delivery of impactful features that provide measurable business and customer value.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to define and deliver features that enhance user experience.
• Maintain consistency in engineering standards and architecture across platforms by working with other Engineering Managers and Tech Leads.
• Champion engineering excellence, ensuring code quality and maintainable systems.
• Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of technical growth and collaboration.
• Utilize agile processes and project tracking metrics to strengthen team organization and delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading engineering teams that deliver products at scale.
• Experience managing both frontend and backend engineering teams.
• Deep technical background, preferably in Rust, with a solid understanding of modern backend architectures and API design.
• Strong leadership skills, able to align efforts across complex, multi-platform environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Empathy for the customer and a passion for building intuitive, performant experiences.
• Experience in FinTech or Payment products is preferred.

Nice to Have

• Background in systems design or distributed architectures.
• Working knowledge of Rust (or similar languages such as Go or C++) and familiarity with async architectures, APIs, and microservices.
