Loader - Waste Management Operations

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Loader to join our Waste Management Operations team at Veolia. As a Loader, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient waste collection and management. This position offers a competitive salary of £13.77 per hour, translating to an annual salary of approximately £27,924.75. You will work 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM.

What You'll Do

• Meet the physical demands of the position by moving and loading food waste, domestic waste, and recycling into the vehicle.
• Collect and lift 23-liter caddies into 240-liter transfer bins, requiring physical strength and stamina.
• Complete a set route for food waste collection, ensuring timely and efficient service.
• Use bin lifters to transfer waste from transfer bins to the collection vehicle, maintaining safety and efficiency.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team of collectors, ensuring that work sites are left tidy after service.
• Maintain accurate records and track waste volumes as required.
• Ensure proper securing and covering of loads to prevent spillage during transportation.
• Follow health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE and maintaining clean work areas.
• Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
• Comply with environmental regulations and company policies regarding waste handling and disposal.

Requirements

• Good knowledge and experience of health and safety practices.
• Strong teamwork abilities and clear communication skills.
• Ability to work in various outdoor environments, including adverse weather conditions and odors.
• Time management skills to meet loading schedules and deadlines efficiently.
• Prior experience in the waste industry is preferred but not essential.
