Director of Total Rewards and People Operations - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Total Rewards and People Operations to join our team at interos.ai. This remote position is critical for shaping how we attract, reward, support, and retain talent while ensuring our People systems, data, and processes are accurate, compliant, and ready to scale. As the Director of Total Rewards and People Operations, you will play a pivotal role in leading the strategic direction and execution of compensation, benefits, HR systems, and people analytics.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and administer the organization’s total rewards philosophy, including benefits, job architecture, salary structures, benchmarking, incentive programs, and annual compensation cycles.
- Personally execute and support benefits administration activities, including open enrollment preparation, vendor coordination, employee communications, and issue resolution.
- Champion a stellar candidate and employee experience across the employee lifecycle, focusing on seamless onboarding, offboarding, and day-to-day People Operations interactions.
- Own and operate the HRIS environment, including system configuration, data integrity, reporting, troubleshooting, integrations, and ongoing optimization of HR applications.
- Perform hands-on HRIS and people data work, including report creation, data audits, data corrections, integrations support, and ad hoc analyses to meet business, compliance, and operational needs.
- Drive HR process improvements by identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline workflows across the employee lifecycle.
- Build, maintain, and deliver People metrics, spreadsheets, dashboards, and KPI reporting for People leadership and business stakeholders.
- Own employee-facing People resources, keeping policies, guides, and documentation current and accessible while proactively identifying gaps based on employee and manager questions.
- Support global People operations by coordinating with international partners and ensuring alignment with local market practices, employment regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Analyze workforce data, including retention, turnover, compensation trends, and organizational health indicators, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Manage vendor relationships directly, including contract negotiations, renewals, performance management, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to People leadership and business partners by providing both strategic guidance and hands-on operational support in a lean, fast-paced environment.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries related to compensation, benefits, HR systems, and People data, providing timely, accurate, and empathetic support while balancing confidentiality and compliance requirements.
- Lead the administration and analysis of employee engagement surveys, translating results into clear insights and actionable recommendations to department and executive leadership that inform People priorities and leadership decision-making.
- Operate a high-trust, service-oriented People operations model by triaging and resolving day-to-day questions, troubleshooting system or vendor issues, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality employee experience across all People programs and tools.
- Help shape People strategy through trusted partnership and influence, combining frontline employee insights with data and operational realities to inform decisions, prioritize initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience across compensation, benefits, HRIS, reporting, payroll, or related People functions.
- Demonstrated experience personally administering and configuring HRIS platforms such as Workday, ADP, UKG, Paycor, or similar systems.
- Strong experience with People data, reporting, and analytics.
- Advanced Excel/spreadsheet skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, scenario modeling, and data analysis.
- Strong PowerPoint/Slide Deck and written communication skills, with experience presenting insights to senior leaders.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and international employment regulations related to People operations and data.
- Comfort operating as a player–coach in a small, nimble organization where hands-on execution is required.
- Experience supporting globally distributed teams and creating an engaging culture in a remote-first company.
- A humble, hungry, smart mindset, paired with a strong passion for identifying gaps, questioning inefficiencies, and continuously improving People processes, systems, and data to better serve employees and the business.

- A proactive, ownership-driven approach, taking responsibility for outcomes end to end, anticipating issues before they escalate, and following through to resolution in partnership with leaders and cross-functional teams.

- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience building and scaling HR programs and systems in high-growth or startup environments.
- Experience building and maintaining BI dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI, etc).
- Background in people analytics, compensation modeling, or HR technology implementations.
