Director of Legal - Remote Opportunity at Chainalysis

About the Role

Chainalysis is seeking a Director of Legal to join our team in a remote capacity. As a Director of Legal, you will play a critical role in guiding our legal strategies and ensuring compliance across our innovative blockchain products. This position offers the unique opportunity to influence the legal landscape of blockchain technology while working with a diverse team of professionals.

What You'll Do

• Review current and prospective products for legal risk and advise relevant business teams accordingly.
• Evaluate outgoing marketing materials for material legal risks.
• Create and implement policies and procedures related to product launches, marketing, intellectual property, and other legal matters.
• Manage the company’s intellectual property program, identifying and pursuing new protection opportunities.
• Advise data science teams on best practices related to data collection and the use of artificial intelligence.
• Oversee one direct report, the Product Counsel, ensuring effective legal support across the organization.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor or foreign equivalent.
• Five (5) years of experience in a legal role, preferably within technology or blockchain.
• Must be admitted to practice law in a U.S. or foreign jurisdiction or eligible to register as in-house counsel.
• Experience with legal research on laws and regulations relevant to company products and marketing practices.
• Strong legal writing skills to summarize the applicability of laws and regulations.
• Ability to provide oral and written legal advice to internal business teams.
• Experience strategizing with in-house legal teams and presenting legal requirements to technical and non-legal teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in blockchain technology or cryptocurrency law.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
