Director of Engineering - Infrastructure & Platform (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Engineering, Infrastructure & Platform to join our team at Alchemy. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of one of the most sophisticated, high-throughput distributed systems in the blockchain ecosystem. As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Web3 infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Lead and scale multiple engineering teams across Cloud Infrastructure, Platform, Data Platform, and Internal Tooling, including distributed and international teams.
• Define and own the platform and infrastructure strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across the organization.
• Serve as a senior technical leader, influencing architecture and systems design for large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
• Partner with Product, Security, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align platform investments with company goals and customer needs.
• Drive execution excellence by evolving processes, setting clear priorities, and ensuring predictable delivery as the organization scales.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and ecosystem trends (Web3, cloud infrastructure, AI) and translate them into actionable technical strategy.
• Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering leaders and ICs; provide coaching that raises the technical bar across teams.
• Own hiring strategy and workforce planning for the org, recruiting top-tier talent and developing future leaders.
• Shape and strengthen Alchemy’s engineering culture through standards, mentorship, and programs that promote continuous learning and innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in distributed systems.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing managers and leading orgs responsible for critical production infrastructure at high-growth startups.
• Strong hands-on understanding of large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Java, Kubernetes, AWS, multi-region, multi-cloud is strongly preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong ownership mindset; comfortable operating with ambiguity and driving initiatives end-to-end.
