About the Role
Join HSBC as an Analyst, BCO CoE, where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the financial services sector. This remote role allows you to engage with a global team, focusing on climate-related risk assessments and sustainability initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Conduct risk assessments of the carbon footprint of the Wholesale lending portfolio, identifying both physical and transitional risks.
- Analyze counterparty information for climate-related risk assessments, including emissions reduction plans and transition plan evaluations.
- Perform in-depth research on Wholesale counterparties' data and trends, focusing on greenhouse gas emissions accounting and Net Zero strategies.
- Validate industry/sub-sector data of the Wholesale portfolio as part of the Climate Aligned Finance sectoral value chain.
- Investigate Wholesale portfolio exposure for the Thermal Coal Phase Out Policy (TCPOP) applicability and perform exposure weighting calculations.
- Collaborate with Regional Sustainability Champions to drive activities supporting the Group's transition to Net Zero.
- Work with a global team to promote best practices and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders effectively.
- Strong understanding of ESG and Climate Risk, including familiarity with ESG policies and their implementation.
- Experience in ESG data reporting, climate change research, and risk assessment is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

- Knowledge of climate change policies and regulations.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies.
