Accommodation Placement Officer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Accommodation Placement Officer to join our Rehousing Temporary Accommodation team. This role is crucial in providing temporary accommodation to households experiencing homelessness. As an Accommodation Placement Officer, you will receive and respond to new requests for placements, ensuring that temporary accommodation is provided to those in need. This position is vital for maintaining the safety and well-being of our community, making it a meaningful opportunity for those motivated by impactful work.

What You'll Do

• Respond to requests for temporary accommodation placements efficiently and effectively.
• Negotiate with accommodation providers to secure reduced rates whenever possible.
• Attend visits and work outside of regular hours to ensure emergency placements are made.
• Collaborate with clients, service colleagues, and external organizations to build rapport and provide support.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to placements and client interactions.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage tight deadlines.
• Organizational skills and adaptability to changing situations.
• Basic knowledge of homelessness and housing legislation is beneficial but not essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a public/customer-facing role.
• Understanding of local housing policies and procedures.
• Previous experience in social services or community support roles.
