About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Utility Foreman to join our team at Davey Tree Expert Company in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a Utility Foreman, you will lead a tree crew in performing essential tree pruning and removal services for major electric utility providers. This is a fantastic opportunity to work outdoors and make a significant impact in the community while ensuring safety and quality in all operations. The Utility Foreman role is crucial for maintaining the health and safety of our urban forests and utility lines.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in executing tree pruning and removal services safely and efficiently.
  • Perform job-site inspections to plan and execute assigned work tasks effectively.
  • Utilize your knowledge of tree identification and industry pruning guidelines to ensure quality service.
  • Mentor and train new employees, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
  • Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects to prevent hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all operations.
  • Complete necessary training programs, including First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses.

Requirements

  • Experience in line clearance or related tree work is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is mandatory; a Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B) is preferred.
  • Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant pesticide licenses and certifications as required by state law.
  • Preferred certifications include ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in utility tree care and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of local tree species and their care requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
