Technical Manager - Food Safety and Quality (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Manager to join our team remotely, focusing on food safety and quality at our growing Rochdale site. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a developing team through a significant expansion phase.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the technical, quality assurance, and hygiene operations to ensure our products remain safe, legal, and of the highest quality.
• Manage a cross-functional team including the Compliance Manager, Hygiene Manager, and QA Managers.
• Maintain and continuously improve HACCP systems, food safety plans, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Act as the primary lead for internal and external audits, liaising with regulatory bodies and retail customers.
• Mentor and develop an evolving team, establishing robust processes and embedding a strong food safety culture.
• Oversee non-conformances, customer complaints, pest control, and the site’s sampling programs.
• Report key technical and quality performance metrics to senior management.

Requirements

• Significant experience at a senior Technical Management level within the food industry, specifically with a strong background in meat.
• Expert-level knowledge of food safety legislation (BRCGS/HACCP).
• In-depth understanding of food manufacturing processes.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trust and motivate a developing team.
• Experience managing complex validation and risk assessment programs.
