Summer 2026 Partnerships & Organizing Internship - Remote Option Available
About the Role
Join ArchCity Defenders as a Summer 2026 Partnerships & Organizing Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in social justice advocacy while working remotely or in-person in St. Louis, Missouri. As an intern, you will contribute to vital projects aimed at combating the criminalization of poverty and state violence in communities of color.
What You'll Do
- Conduct one-on-one interviews with impacted individuals to gather insights and experiences.
- Assist in coordinating meetings with elected officials to advocate for community needs.
- Participate in or facilitate political education training sessions for community members.
- Help plan and facilitate Movement meetings, Townhalls, and other group events.
- Engage in community canvassing and outreach initiatives to raise awareness.
- Support phone and text banking efforts to mobilize community engagement.
- Attend Board of Aldermen meetings, taking notes and reporting back to the team.
- Work collaboratively with staff to support the mission of ArchCity Defenders through various social work services.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic administrative skills and a detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to racial and economic justice and understanding of systems of oppression.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity toward diverse populations.
Nice to Have
- Prior organizing experience in community advocacy.
- Graphic design skills for creating promotional materials.
- Experience in administration or project management.
