About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Scale to join our dynamic team at Airwallex. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building the future of our global payments platform. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while contributing to high-impact projects that serve over 200,000 businesses worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Design and maintain the multi-tenant infrastructure that powers our embedded finance platform, ensuring enterprise-grade SLAs for availability, latency, and throughput.
• Lead cross-domain product features that synthesize knowledge across business, regulatory, and technical domains.
• Architect solutions that translate complex business requirements into technical specifications, directly influencing high-stakes deal outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Compliance, and Sales, to deliver scalable and maintainable systems.
• Utilize your expertise in Java/Spring Boot to create high-performance applications that meet strict latency SLAs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on Java/Spring Boot.
• Proven ability to balance flexibility and simplicity in system design.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in high-scale performance tuning and multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).

Nice to Have

• Experience in the fintech or payments industry.
• Knowledge of OAuth2.0, API design, or developer documentation.
• Experience with cross-region deployment or data residency compliance.
