About the Role

The ACLU is seeking a Spring 2026 Legal Intern for the Speech, Privacy and Technology Project. This remote internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in civil liberties litigation while working with leading legal professionals. As a Legal Intern, you will contribute to important projects that focus on free speech, privacy, and technology, making a meaningful impact in the field of public interest law.

What You'll Do

• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support ongoing litigation efforts.
• Draft legal documents and advocacy materials that contribute to the ACLU's mission.
• Assist ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys with various legal tasks.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Engage in discussions about equity, inclusion, and diversity in the workplace.
• Utilize excellent research skills, including internet and legal database research.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in all tasks.
• Maintain attention to detail and organizational skills throughout your work.

Requirements

• Open to law students who have completed their 1L year or are in an LLM program.
• Commitment to public interest law and civil liberties is essential.
• Interest in free speech, privacy, and technology preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Ability to see projects through to completion with a collaborative approach.
• Capability to conduct complex legal analysis and resolve conflicts respectfully.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in legal internships or related fields.
• Familiarity with civil liberties issues and advocacy.
