About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in a remote capacity. This Special Education Teacher remote position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives while enjoying the flexibility of working from home. You will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring they receive the support and resources necessary for their academic success.

What You'll Do

  • Create effective lesson plans that accommodate various student levels and outline the curriculum used.
  • Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom, ensuring effective support for students.
  • Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, tracking behavior points and maintaining communication with parents.
  • Attend IEP meetings and maintain documentation on IEP goals, ensuring compliance with state standards.
  • Collaborate with other staff and outside agencies to provide comprehensive education to each student.
  • Support the implementation and use of assistive technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with educational best practices.
  • Conduct summative assessments and interpret educational data to inform instructional planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education; Master's degree strongly recommended.
  • Arizona Department of Education Standard Professional Special Education Teaching Certificate or Special Education Endorsement.
  • 2-5 years of experience working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English, with strong communication skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of standard software applications.
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in implementing curriculum and behavior interventions.
  • Certifications such as DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background.
