Software Engineer - Transforming the Energy Sector (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our mission-driven startup focused on transforming the energy sector. As a Software Engineer remote position, you will play a key role in developing innovative data management and price modeling software for the electricity market. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that empowers utilities and power producers to revolutionize their market operations and capitalize on the energy transition.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with our CTO and a small team of skilled engineers to design, build, and support our flagship price modeling product.
• Own complex technical problems end-to-end, from initial scoping to user adoption.
• Focus on your areas of strength, whether it’s frontend architecture, backend infrastructure, or data systems.
• Engage directly with customers to understand their pain points and shape the product vision.
• Design and deliver foundational product capabilities, such as scalable data integration systems and distributed compute infrastructure.
• Operate full-stack, rapidly learning new frameworks as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years post-graduate experience building and deploying production software systems.
• Strong system design skills for complex software.
• Mastery of one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript).
• Depth in at least one area of software development (e.g., infrastructure, backend, frontend).
• Mission alignment: Driven to make the grid cleaner and more efficient.
• Excited to take on work outside the "usual" engineering scope, such as product strategy.
• Must be based in the US.

Nice to Have

• Experience in energy sector software development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of data modeling and analytics.
