About the Role

We’re excited to announce an opening for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Team Lead - Remote. This role is perfect for a hands-on leader who is passionate about quality assurance and automation. As the SDET Team Lead, you'll take charge of all aspects of testing, coverage, and quality uplift, ensuring that quality becomes everyone's responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a small but growing testing team (currently 2, soon to be 3).
  • Drive the adoption of shift-left SDET practices, embedding quality earlier in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Maintain and expand automated test coverage, targeting 80%+ for new features.
  • Build and refine test plans, regression suites, and exploratory test cases.
  • Collaborate closely with product, UX, and engineering teams to align on clear, testable acceptance criteria.
  • Attend code reviews and releases, providing guidance on risk and quality.
  • Steer tooling decisions, improve documentation, and enhance reporting on flakiness, trends, and repeat bugs.
  • Own the green tick, ensuring releases are stable, high-quality, and ready for production.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software QA (manual and automation), with recent leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading a small team, with strong mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of QA strategy, testing types, tooling, and modern SDLC practices.
  • Experience building automation suites using tools like Ghost Inspector, Playwright, Selenium, or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to write clearly, document well, and collaborate effectively.
  • Background in SaaS, particularly in accounting software or workflow-heavy platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with shift-left testing, CI/CD, and supporting developers to test smarter.
  • Experience with TypeScript, .NET/C#, SQL, GitHub, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools.
