About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Data Infrastructure to join our dynamic team at Airbnb. This remote position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge data infrastructure that supports our global operations. As a key member of our Data Warehouse Infrastructure team, you will play a crucial role in architecting and implementing a next-generation big data compute platform.

What You'll Do

• Architect and implement a next-generation big data compute platform.
• Manage and enhance platform reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
• Produce high-quality, maintainable, and self-documenting code.
• Contribute to open-source software initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues in data infrastructure.
• Utilize strong programming skills in Java, Scala, and SQL.
• Leverage expert knowledge of big data technologies like Spark and Trino.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in data infrastructure.
• Expert-level knowledge of big data technologies.
• Experience in system design and maintenance of distributed systems.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Education in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of data governance and security practices.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
