Senior Software Engineer - AdTech Remote

About the Role

We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer - AdTech remote to join our dynamic team at Zeta Global. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in building real-time bidding systems to enhance our AI-Powered Marketing Cloud. You will be instrumental in designing and operating low-latency, high-throughput services that process bid requests and generate bids within strict SLAs.

What You'll Do

• Design and build core DSP bidder components that handle high-QPS bid request ingestion, filtering, enrichment, decisioning, and bid response generation.
• Implement auction logic, campaign eligibility, targeting constraints, and frequency controls.
• Optimize latency and tail behavior using timeouts, backpressure, and efficient serialization.
• Build and extend pacing and budget management logic, integrating with control-plane services.
• Integrate real-time model scoring and feature retrieval systems with production guardrails.
• Define SLOs and observability metrics, participate in on-call duties, and drive post-incident improvements.
• Build and operate services on AWS, optimizing for cost and performance.
• For staff-level candidates, drive technical direction and mentor engineers through design/code reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend/distributed systems.
• Proven experience in building low-latency, high-QPS services, preferably in real-time decisioning or ad serving.
• Strong proficiency in Java and/or Go for performance-oriented backend development.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and experience operating production services on AWS.
• Experience with data stores and patterns used in real-time systems, such as Redis, DynamoDB, and Kafka.
• Strong debugging skills across services, including profiling and latency investigations.
• Hands-on DSP/RTB experience with OpenRTB and bid request handling.
• Experience with privacy-aware systems and operating high-scale systems (10^5–10^6+ QPS).

Nice to Have

• Kubernetes/service mesh familiarity and/or deep Linux networking knowledge.
• Experience integrating ML ranking/scoring in real time.
• Knowledge of consent/identity signals and PII-safe logging.
