Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our team remotely. In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling large, production-grade Ruby on Rails applications, making a significant impact on our platform.

What You'll Do

• Build robust, scalable, and maintainable Ruby on Rails applications with strong test coverage.
• Debug issues, fix bugs, and identify performance bottlenecks to improve application performance.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance development efficiency.
• Collaborate with teammates on architecture and solutions to solve complex technical problems.
• Deploy and maintain multi-tier, multi-stage web applications.
• Work directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Refine internal engineering processes and best practices.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design Principles.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests (test-first is a plus).
• Comfortable working with JavaScript, jQuery, and frontend fundamentals.
• Good understanding of HTML, HTML5, and CSS.
• Familiarity with the Unix command line.
• Curiosity about new technologies and modern development practices.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team.

Nice to Have

• Experience building database-driven applications with significant user interaction.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience with NoSQL/document databases such as Redis or MongoDB.
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks like React or Angular.
• Experience using Git (GitHub/Bitbucket) for collaboration.
• Familiarity with tools like JIRA or Pivotal Tracker.
• Basic understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Experience with SASS/LESS/HAML.
