Senior Robotics Engineer - Manipulation
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Robotics Engineer - Manipulation to join our team at RoboForce. This role is pivotal in developing advanced robotic systems that can perform complex manipulation tasks in industrial environments. As a Senior Robotics Engineer, you will own the arm autonomy stack, architecting algorithms that enable our robots to reach, grasp, and manipulate objects safely and intelligently. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
- Architect algorithms for advanced motion planning and trajectory generation, enabling high-DOF arm motion in dynamic environments.
- Implement constrained motion planners that generate smooth, jerk-limited trajectories in real-time.
- Develop low-level control strategies for safe physical interaction with the environment, including impedance/admittance controllers.
- Build the mathematical engine for remote manipulation capabilities, ensuring intuitive and stable control mapping.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of robotic systems.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, OR an M.S. degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep understanding of rigid body kinematics, dynamics, and 3D geometry.
- Expertise in modern C++ (C++17/20) and libraries like Eigen, KDL, or Pinocchio.
- Experience with motion planning libraries (e.g., OMPL, MoveIt, TrajOpt).
- Practical experience with control theory, including PID and Model Predictive Control (MPC).
Nice to Have
- Experience tuning physics parameters in simulators like Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo.
- Familiarity with trajectory optimization solvers like OSQP, Ipopt, or Ceres.
- Interest in Reinforcement Learning (RL) or Learning from Demonstration (LfD) for manipulation tasks.
- Experience with industrial communication buses (EtherCAT/CAN) and motor drives.
What We Offer
- Competitive stock options/equity programs.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) plan with company match.
- Visa sponsorship and green card support for qualified candidates.
- Regular team-building events and a fully stocked kitchen.
This Senior Robotics Engineer role at RoboForce offers a unique opportunity to work on advanced robotic systems in a collaborative environment. With competitive salary and benefits, it's a great chance to make a significant impact in the field of robotics.
