Senior Database Administrator - Remote Position

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will take ownership of production database environments, ensuring performance and reliability while acting as a technical reference within our distributed team. What You'll Do

• Own and resolve production database incidents including performance issues, slow queries, replication lag, and backup failures.
• Analyze and optimize MySQL / MariaDB environments in live systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Review database architectures and configurations, implementing necessary improvements.
• Monitor database health and proactively prevent potential issues.
• Conduct remote DBA audits and consultations for clients to enhance their database environments.
• Collaborate closely with system engineers on infrastructure and performance topics.
• Support and mentor junior DBAs as needed, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Engage in advanced query analysis, indexing, and configuration reviews to optimize database performance.
• Develop and implement backup, restore, and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Set up high availability and replication configurations to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Automate DBA tasks and operational improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Participate in client technical calls and performance reviews to provide expert insights.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Database Administrator with a hands-on approach.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic mindset, capable of making decisions and owning complex topics end-to-end.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to clients and teams.
• Experience working in remote, customer-facing environments.
• Familiarity with the following tech stack: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, PMM (Percona Monitoring & Management), Prometheus, Nagios, Ansible, and scripting (Python/Bash).
• Strong experience with Percona tools (XtraBackup, PMM, Percona Server) is a significant advantage.
