Senior Computational Biologist - Remote Position in Gynecologic Oncology
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Computational Biologist to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in gynecologic oncology and reproductive medicine. What You'll Do
- Assist in the analysis, design, and development of computational pipelines and algorithms for high-dimensional datasets.
- Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to derive insights from complex data, including RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics.
- Run workflows for somatic mutation calling and copy number analysis on matched tumor/normal samples.
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools using Python, R, Docker, and Conda.
- Collaborate with experimental biologists and data scientists to integrate omics data with clinical datasets.
- Prepare manuscripts, figures, and reports for presentations and publications.
- Mentor students and research personnel in computational methods and analytical workflows.
- Stay current with emerging tools and trends in computational biology and biomedical data science.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Two years of experience in scientific software or industry development.
- Experience in analyzing spatial biology datasets is preferred.
- Strong programming skills in Python and R.
- Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex findings.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Docker and Conda for workflow management.
- Knowledge of genomics and single-cell omics.
- Prior experience in a collaborative research environment.
