About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Computational Biologist to join our team at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in gynecologic oncology and reproductive medicine. You will be part of a renowned department that specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of various gynecologic cancers, including ovarian, vaginal, vulvar, endometrial, and cervical cancers.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the analysis, design, and development of computational pipelines and algorithms for high-dimensional datasets.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to derive insights from complex data, including RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics.
  • Run workflows for somatic mutation calling and copy number analysis on matched tumor/normal samples.
  • Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools using Python, R, Docker, and Conda.
  • Collaborate with experimental biologists and data scientists to integrate omics data with clinical datasets.
  • Prepare manuscripts, figures, and reports for presentations and publications.
  • Mentor students and research personnel in computational methods and analytical workflows.
  • Stay current with emerging tools and trends in computational biology and biomedical data science.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in scientific software or industry development.
  • Experience in analyzing spatial biology datasets is preferred.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and R.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex findings.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Docker and Conda for workflow management.
  • Knowledge of genomics and single-cell omics.
  • Prior experience in a collaborative research environment.
