Senior Backend Engineer - Reporting & Statements for Crypto

About the Role

At Anchorage Digital, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Reporting & Statements team. This remote backend engineer position offers a unique opportunity to design and implement systems that power financial reports and statements for our clients. You will be part of a global team dedicated to building the world’s most advanced digital asset platform for institutions participating in crypto.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints that serve financial data to internal product teams and external clients.
• Build a service integration layer between backend services and the data platform, ensuring reliable data flow and error handling.
• Shape architectural decisions collaboratively for the API and service delivery infrastructure.
• Balance competing requirements of accuracy, performance, and scalability while delivering reporting products on tight client deadlines.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers on data contracts and SLAs to ensure seamless integration between the data engine and API layer.
• Partner with Product teams to design APIs that enable self-service access to financial data.
• Champion API design best practices and service reliability standards across the engineering organization.
• Contribute to technical roadmap planning and help build a supportive, collaborative engineering culture for the new team.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience building backend systems with a focus on designing and shipping production APIs and services.
• Proficient in Go or Python with hands-on experience building RESTful APIs.
• Experience with data-intensive systems and databases such as PostgreSQL or BigQuery.
• Cloud-native development experience, preferably on GCP, including containerization and incident response.
• Service stewardship mindset with a focus on building reliable, observable, maintainable systems.

Nice to Have

• Experience building GraphQL APIs and understanding the tradeoffs between GraphQL and REST.
• Financial domain knowledge, particularly in fintech or banking environments.
• Collaboration with data engineering teams and familiarity with modern data stack patterns.
