Senior Backend Engineer - Java Development

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Azerconnect Group. This remote Senior Backend Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on high-performance Java-based applications, contributing to innovative solutions in the ICT and high technology sectors.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java-based applications as a Senior Backend Engineer.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions to enhance application performance.
• Improve scalability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical services.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor mid-level engineers to foster growth within the team.
• Identify technical debt and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Java development.
• Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and concurrency principles.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and container technologies (Docker preferred).
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a sense of ownership.
• Fluent in Azerbaijani; proficiency in Russian and English is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
