Senior Backend Engineer - Distributed Systems (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join Together AI, a leading company in artificial intelligence. This remote Senior Backend Engineer position focuses on building and maintaining the codebase that powers the Together AI Sandbox service. You will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and collaboration, working closely with product teams to develop high-performance backend services.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement core backend software components for our API platform.
• Conduct architecture and research work for AI workloads.
• Interface with cross-functional teams to integrate their innovations into our systems.
• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure high-quality code.
• Create services, tools, and comprehensive developer documentation.
• Develop testing frameworks to ensure robustness and fault tolerance.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical incidents as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience writing high-performance, well-tested, production-quality code.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• Expertise in building large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Golang, Java, Rust, or C/C++.
• Experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., ClickHouse, Redis).
• Strong understanding of low-level operating systems concepts including multi-threading and memory management.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes/Nomad and container technologies is a plus.
• Experience with virtual machines, microVMs, or sandboxing technologies is a plus.

• Experience with Ceph and Elixir.
