About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Senior Staff AI Engineer to join our innovative team at BNSF Railway. What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and implement AI models and algorithms tailored to railroad operations, including predictive maintenance, scheduling, and safety monitoring.
• Build scalable AI systems to analyze real-time data from rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and IoT devices.
• Collect, preprocess, and clean data from various sources for training AI models, ensuring high-quality inputs for analysis.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns relevant to rail operations.
• Optimize algorithms to streamline train scheduling, route planning, and fuel efficiency.
• Collaborate with software engineers and DevOps teams to integrate AI solutions into production environments.
• Monitor deployed models for performance, scalability, and accuracy, ensuring continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on emerging AI technologies and trends to propose innovative methodologies for solving complex railroad challenges.

Requirements

• Authorized to work in the US.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in AI/ML development, data science, or software engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or Java.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Familiarity with data engineering tools and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and MLOps ecosystem.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
• Outstanding communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience with predictive maintenance and industrial IoT applications.
• Knowledge of railroad operations or logistics.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices for model lifecycle management.
