About the Role

We’re hiring a Remote Security Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team at Tailscale. As a Remote Security Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the security of our systems and infrastructure. Your expertise will help us build a safer Internet for users worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement security controls across various layers, including cloud platforms, operating systems, Kubernetes, and networks.
• Identify and address security vulnerabilities within Tailscale’s infrastructure, ensuring robust defenses against sophisticated threats.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance security features and implement bug fixes.
• Conduct audits of our infrastructure to identify weaknesses and propose effective solutions.
• Utilize threat modeling and security analysis to support engineering decisions.
• Spend 25-50% of your time writing software, contributing to both operational and governance security responsibilities.

Requirements

• Proven technical expertise in securing cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and experience with multi-cloud networks.
• Familiarity with container security, orchestration security, and authentication/authorization processes.
• Understanding of internet/web security fundamentals, including WAFs, TLS, PKI, and DNS security.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Tailscale primarily uses Go) and experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Prior experience in roles related to infrastructure security, security operations, or threat modeling.
• Knowledge of operating system internals and security mechanisms.
• Familiarity with common networking protocols.
