About the Role

We're hiring a Remote Security Infrastructure Engineer to join Tailscale's innovative team. In this role, you will help build a secure and interconnected internet for users worldwide. As a Remote Security Infrastructure Engineer, you'll work on designing and implementing security controls across various layers, ensuring our systems are safe and reliable.

What You'll Do

• Design and build security controls across diverse layers including cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and networks.
• Identify and implement security and privacy features to enhance Tailscale's overall security posture.
• Audit infrastructure for technical security weaknesses and drive resolutions.
• Support engineering decisions with threat modeling and security analysis.
• Spend 25-50% of your time writing software, alongside operational security responsibilities.

Requirements

• Technical expertise in securing cloud platforms, especially multi-cloud networks.
• Familiarity with container security and orchestration.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Go.
• Prior experience in infrastructure security or safety-related technical roles.
• Knowledge of operating system internals and common networking protocols.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling like Terraform or Ansible.
• Familiarity with internet/web security fundamentals such as WAFs and TLS.
