About the Role

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a hands-on Remote Principal Software Architect to lead end-to-end solution delivery for major retail platforms. This position is primarily remote, with the expectation of regular on-site engagement at client locations throughout the greater Seattle, Washington area. Candidates must reside within the Seattle metropolitan region. In this role, you will own architecture leadership (design, trade-offs, governance), active implementation (mentoring, code reviews, select hands-on features), and operational ownership (delivery sign-off, post-release support) of high-impact solutions, bridging business requirements to working implementations.

What You'll Do

  • Drive Dual-Track Agile processes, guiding the Discovery Track for clarity and design exploration, and the Delivery Track to ensure quality, traceability, and measurable outcomes.
  • Instrument and leverage AI/agentic workflows to accelerate design, prototyping, code generation, test-case creation, specification drafting, and automated validation across the software lifecycle.
  • Provide AI-assisted development oversight, ensuring ethical compliance and integration of generative AI tools.
  • Mentor teams, make critical technical trade-offs, and take full accountability for delivery sign-off and post-release support.
  • Ensure solutions are both innovative and operationally robust, maintaining architectural integrity.

Requirements

  • Strong retail platform domain knowledge (POS systems, store operations).
  • Cloud-native architecture experience.
  • Fluency with generative and agentic AI tools.
  • Proven experience in architecture leadership and hands-on coding.
  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture roles.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AI/ML integration in retail solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of modern software development practices.
