About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Policy Review Consultant to assist in the critical analysis of Brazil's Vessel Data Reporting obligations. This role is pivotal in enhancing ocean governance and ensuring compliance with international fishing regulations. As a Remote Policy Review Consultant, you will contribute to the development of effective data-sharing tools that promote transparency and accountability in fishing activities.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of Brazil's legal and regulatory frameworks governing fishing vessel registry data.
  • Analyze obligations at national, regional, and international levels related to data collection and sharing.
  • Collaborate with Brazilian authorities to develop interoperability solutions for vessel data management.
  • Provide insights into challenges and opportunities surrounding vessel data sharing policies.
  • Support the development of a vessel information sharing tool to streamline data submissions to Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs).

Requirements

  • Proven experience in policy review or legal analysis, particularly in environmental governance or fisheries management.
  • Strong understanding of international fishing regulations and data-sharing obligations.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience in working with governmental or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
