Remote Junior Data Engineer - Geospatial Focus

About the Role

At Satelligence, we're looking for a Remote Junior Data Engineer to join our team. This role is perfect for those eager to dive into the world of data engineering and contribute to sustainable sourcing initiatives. As a Junior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building out the capabilities of our geo-data query engine, working closely with our data engineering team to develop and maintain our satellite data processing engine.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
  • Optimize data pipelines for processing and storing massive datasets, focusing on ETL and OLAP processes.
  • Develop and manage APIs for efficient data dissemination, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Implement data engineering best practices for data quality, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with product teams to understand their needs and provide technical guidance.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of data storage solutions using databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot platform performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Python developer, with a solid understanding of RDBMS, especially PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with Django and a preference for well-organized codebases.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, providing support and guidance to product teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a data engineering role or similar.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud services (Cloud SQL, Cloud Composer, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with PostGIS or other geospatial data handling.
