About the Role

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Programme Manager to join UK Research and Innovation in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in leading a major operating model review project, contributing to a broader change program aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency and effectiveness. As a Programme Manager, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including subject matter experts and external service providers, to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of a complex restructuring programme, ensuring alignment with UKRI change governance.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality project artefacts documenting each stage, decision, risk, issue, dependency, and benefit associated with the programme.
  • Oversee external contracts with service providers, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Escalate and resolve project blockers in collaboration with the workstream lead and Programme Director.
  • Lead project managers responsible for individual workstreams, promoting effective delegation and team development.
  • Prepare regular and reliable budget forecasts in partnership with the programme finance business partner.
  • Represent the programme at senior governance bodies within UKRI, ensuring compliance with governance policies.
  • Develop union engagement and stakeholder management plans in collaboration with the Programme Director.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Programme Manager, specifically in delivering restructuring projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage major people-related changes in a large public sector organization.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of formal programme management methods, controls, and processes.
  • Understanding of public sector exit procedures and their implications.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven track record of effective reporting and presentation.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in project scheduling and data analysis tools.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in both programmes and personal development.
  • Enthusiasm for people and culture-oriented programmes, with a strong desire to take ownership of delivery.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a hybrid working environment.
  • Familiarity with UKRI governance policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience in managing teams of project professionals.
