Principal Software Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at Akkodis. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to lead innovative projects while collaborating with clients across the United States. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our embedded systems solutions, utilizing your expertise in Python, Django, and AWS.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, facilitating technical discussions and requirement-gathering sessions.
• Lead the design and implementation of custom features and enhancements across our platform.
• Develop application layer components and service extensions using Python and Django.
• Build and integrate customer-facing portal/UI components in React.
• Leverage AWS services to create scalable, cloud-backed integrations.
• Own the documentation and development of APIs, SDKs, and interface design documents (IDDs).
• Provide senior-level technical escalation support for customers and internal teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence cross-team engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Expertise in Python, with strong experience in building backend services or integration layers (Django preferred).
• Proficiency in React for developing customer-facing interfaces.
• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and S3.
• Strong background in embedded systems development.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience in Developer Relations or technical account management.
• Background in pre-sales engineering or partner enablement.
