About the Role

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is hiring a Plant Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities division. This is a unique opportunity to work remotely while playing a critical role in maintaining equipment and systems essential for laboratory operations and scientific research. As a Plant Maintenance Technician remote, you will ensure that our facilities operate smoothly, contributing to world-class science.

What You'll Do

  • Install, repair, and maintain various equipment and systems critical to laboratory operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on plant facilities systems.
  • Monitor and respond to control systems alarms, ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Operate and maintain low and high-pressure boilers, pneumatic actuated devices, and cooling towers.
  • Utilize test and safety equipment to perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • Four years of work experience in mechanical maintenance or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions independently.
  • Proficiency in reading piping diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks in various environments.
  • Valid California Driver's License.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with underground utilities such as water and natural gas.
  • Completion of the Laboratory’s Qualified Electrical Worker program.
