Operations Manager - Remote Opportunity at Biffa

About the Role

We are looking for an Operations Manager - Remote to join our dynamic team at Biffa. As an Operations Manager, you will have the responsibility of overseeing the effective delivery of our recycling and waste collection services. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance with health and safety regulations.

What You'll Do

• Manage and supervise teams of supervisors and staff, ensuring adherence to Biffa policies and health and safety regulations.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, attending meetings and providing timely reports.
• Monitor and achieve financial and budgetary targets, including overtime and staffing levels.
• Support staff training and development, ensuring all employees receive proper induction and ongoing training.
• Continuously review and improve operational efficiency in waste collection and street cleansing services.
• Ensure compliance with all legal obligations and maintain accurate records of training and safety procedures.
• Analyze performance data and implement corrective actions when necessary to meet KPIs.
• Assist in achieving Biffa's business objectives and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Requirements

• Transport Manager CPC Qualification is essential.
• Experience in people management within a unionized environment, including handling disciplinaries and grievances.
• Proven track record of meeting service delivery KPIs.
• Knowledge of vehicle management and compliance with the Road Transport Directive.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in producing and analyzing reports using Microsoft Office Suite.
• General knowledge of environmental responsibilities and health and safety legislation.
• Ability to handle conflict and negotiate effectively.
• Experience in continuous improvement within an operational environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience in waste management or environmental services.
• Leadership experience in a similar role.
• Familiarity with data monitoring and reporting systems.
