Mid-Senior Network Engineer - Advanced Networking Solutions
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mid-Senior Network Engineer to join our team at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, implementing, and managing complex networking solutions that support our mission to provide state-of-the-art solutions for digital transformation. As a Network Engineer remote, you will work closely with our staff to navigate the evolving landscape of networking technologies.
What You'll Do
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) to enhance connectivity.
- Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems efficiently.
- Develop comprehensive network design and implementation plans.
- Provide technical support to clients and team members.
- Work on BGP, VXLANs, and spine and leaf networks to optimize performance.
- Implement security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Conduct research and cost-benefit analysis on proposed hardware and systems.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in networking, routing, and switching across enterprise networks.
- Proven work experience as a Network Architect/Engineer with expertise in multi-site software defined networks.
- Hands-on experience with both Internet IPv4 and IPv6 routing and switching.
- Proficiency in BGP, VXLANs, and spine and leaf networks.
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS/NX-OS preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in providing support to a wide range of network systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; US Citizenship is legally required.
Nice to Have
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Professional certification such as CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, etc.
