Mid-Level Software Engineer - Backend Payments for Crypto

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Software Engineer – Backend Payments to join our dynamic team at Kraken. As a fully remote company, you will have the opportunity to work from anywhere in the world while contributing to the future of crypto. In this role, you will focus on developing and enhancing our payments systems, ensuring seamless integration across our products.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust services and libraries for payments integration across Kraken's products.
• Write reusable, testable, and highly efficient codebase primarily using Rust or Node/Typescript.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and Frontend Engineering, to ensure seamless integration of new features.
• Debug issues across the stack, including OS, network, and application layers.
• Work closely with crypto-native engineers to enhance our payment systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficiency in writing clean, scalable backend code in a systems language, preferably Rust or Node/Typescript.
• Demonstrated commitment to a security-first mindset when designing systems.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event Driven Systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with blockchain technology and crypto payments.
• Knowledge of modern software development practices and agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure.
