Manager of Rail Safety Training - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Join Watco as the Manager of Rail Safety Training in this exciting remote opportunity. As a key player in our team, you will contribute to the development and growth of both new and experienced team members by creating and delivering comprehensive training programs. Your role will focus on ensuring safety and compliance across our operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development, revision, and delivery of classroom, computer-based, simulator, and hands-on training for various railroad positions.
• Demonstrate safety management practices that empower team members to engage in our Safety Culture.
• Conduct hands-on field training using on-site railroad equipment and tools.
• Communicate and support location managers regarding training and documentation requirements.
• Perform individual efficiency testing and audits to ensure safety compliance and proficiency.
• Engage in continuous professional development to maintain best practices in training methodologies.
• Implement proactive preventative measures to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
• Perform other duties as required to support the training program.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of operating experience as a certified freight conductor.
• Current FRA Part 242 freight conductor certification is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a certified train service engineer (Class I Railroad preferred).
• Current FRA Part 240 locomotive train service engineer certification is required.
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• Experience with basic office computer programs (PPT, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to perform outdoor field training for extended periods.
• Knowledge of Railroad Safety Rules and Operating Rules is essential.

Nice to Have

• Supervisory experience in an operating department.
• Nationally recognized safety certifications (ASSP, NASP, NSC).
• Experience in developing training methodologies.
