About the Role
Join DoorDash as a Machine Learning Intern (PhD) - Remote for Summer 2026! This is an exciting opportunity to work with a fast-growing engineering team dedicated to building the world’s most reliable on-demand logistics engine for delivery. As a Machine Learning Intern, you will leverage cutting-edge research in ML/AI, NLP, RecSys, Ranking, Computer Vision, Causal Inference, Ad Tech, and Graph analysis to solve real-world problems across various domains including discovery, ads, forecasting, fulfillment, and search experiences at DoorDash.
What You'll Do
- Contribute and execute on research ideas that can be applied to improve product experience at DoorDash.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from data to build relevant ML models.
- Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code in languages such as Java, C++, Python, Kotlin, or GoLang.
- Work collaboratively with a team of engineers and researchers to solve analytical problems.
- Communicate findings and insights effectively to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science, ML, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences, or related field, graduating between Fall 2026 & Summer 2027.
- Mastery of at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python, Kotlin, GoLang) or one ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLFlow).
- Experience in research and solving analytical problems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
- Passion for applied ML and the DoorDash product.

- Experience working on publications in machine learning, AI, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical fields.
