Lead Data Scientist - Remote Position

About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join our team in a remote capacity. In this role, you will serve as an internal business consultant, partnering with teams across the organization to solve complex problems using data. This remote Lead Data Scientist position focuses on driving operational improvement, reducing costs and errors, and enhancing decision-making through statistical analysis, visualization, and effective stakeholder communication.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to solve business problems using data.
  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches and deliverables.
  • Pull and validate data from SQL databases to support analysis and reporting.
  • Analyze and interpret data using Python or R (and other tools as needed).
  • Identify patterns, trends, and root causes, determining statistical significance where appropriate.
  • Build dashboards and visualizations using Tableau.
  • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to business stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.
  • Collaborate with data engineering partners to ensure accurate, reliable, and usable datasets.
  • Adapt approach based on business needs (e.g., analysis, dashboarding, reporting, modeling).
  • Work in an Agile environment, supporting sprint-based delivery and frequent deadlines.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in statistics, data analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to deliver end-to-end analytics work, including pulling data, analyzing results, identifying trends and drivers, validating/refuting hypotheses, and delivering business recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL.
  • Proficiency in Python or R.
  • Experience with Tableau (or similar BI tools).
  • Strong communication skills, especially with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment where priorities and scope may evolve.
  • Experience working in an Agile team environment (standups, sprints, deadlines).

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting multiple departments (operations, finance, customer service, product, etc.).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and a consulting-style approach.
  • Comfort using Excel for ad-hoc analysis or stakeholder-ready deliverables.
