Junior Technical Designer - Game Development

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Technical Designer to join our team at Climax Studios. This is an exciting opportunity to work on multiple unannounced AAA FPS titles in a dynamic and innovative environment. As a Junior Technical Designer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the player experience through your contributions to gameplay and scripted events. You will be based in our state-of-the-art studio located in the heart of Liverpool, overlooking the beautiful Harbour.

What You'll Do

• Implement gameplay and level events using visual scripting and proprietary toolsets.
• Build reusable templates and scripting frameworks to reduce duplication and accelerate iteration.
• Collaborate closely with gameplay programmers to evolve or refactor underlying systems where necessary.
• Help resolve gameplay issues across legacy and newly built systems.
• Document scripting workflows and best practices for the wider team.

Requirements

• Professional experience implementing gameplay and level events on a shipped title (console experience preferred but not mandatory).
• Experience with visual scripting systems (e.g., Unreal Blueprint or comparable node-based systems).
• Solid general scripting skills and understanding of gameplay logic.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with both designers and engineers.
• Experience implementing gameplay systems and event/level scripting at production scale.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with game engines and development tools.
