Injection Mold Designer - Remote Opportunities Available

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Injection Mold Designer to join our team. This Injection Mold Designer remote position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in the plastics manufacturing industry. You will be responsible for designing and creating innovative plastic injection molds that meet high standards of quality and efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Create detailed 3D CAD models of injection molds based on TSG Mold Standards and part specifications, considering factors like draft angles, gate locations, and cooling channels.
• Analyze part designs for manufacturability and identify potential molding issues to ensure optimal production processes.
• Design mold components such as cavities, cores, slides, and ejector plates, ensuring proper fit and function.
• Generate 2D drawings for mold fabrication and interpret plastic simulation results to enhance design accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, mold makers, and quality personnel to ensure that mold designs meet project requirements.
• Utilize SolidWorks 3D CAD software to perform mold flows, confirming fill, venting, and warping of molded parts.
• Perform CNC programming using CamWorks software to generate toolpaths for machining mold components.
• Optimize toolpaths for efficient material removal and high-quality surface finish, simulating CNC programs to identify potential collisions or errors.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Injection Mold Designer.
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD software and understanding of plastic injection molding principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify design flaws and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail to ensure precise mold design and programming.
• Proficient in basic computer file operations and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access).

Nice to Have

• Experience with plastic injection simulation and performing mold flows using SolidWorks Plastics.
• Familiarity with CNC programming and selecting appropriate cutting tools for different materials.
• Knowledge of optimizing toolpaths for high-quality surface finishes.
