Head of DeFi - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of DeFi to join the Monad Foundation, a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing decentralized technology. This remote Head of DeFi role is crucial for leading the strategy, relationships, and execution that will expand DeFi across the Monad network. As a player-coach, you will not only set the roadmap but also engage directly with builders, ensuring the DeFi stack on Monad is robust and capital-efficient.

What You'll Do

• Own the DeFi growth strategy for the Monad network, focusing on lending, DEXs, stablecoins, RWAs, and yield infrastructure.
• Execute end-to-end asset and protocol onboarding, coordinating across oracles, liquidators, DEX pool setup, curators, and bridging providers.
• Advise DeFi builders deploying on the Monad network with actionable feedback on protocol mechanics, product gaps, and market positioning.
• Activate your network of whales, liquid funds, curators, and blue-chip DeFi founders to kickstart early liquidity and protocol traction.
• Bridge DeFi and TradFi/Fintech by representing the Foundation with senior institutional executives, translating yield generation opportunities into strategic terms.
• Drive incentive strategy, forming and defending opinions on initiatives that attract durable TVL per unit of spend.
• Manage a team of 2–3 DeFi specialists, setting priorities and maintaining execution tempo.

Requirements

• Proven track record in DeFi, driving measurable growth in TVL, liquidity, or protocol adoption.
• Deep understanding of value flows across lending, CDPs, DEXs, and yield-bearing stablecoins.
• Strong network among whales, liquid crypto-native funds, DeFi curators, and blue-chip protocol founders.
• Executive presence with the ability to communicate DeFi concepts to institutional decision-makers.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to prioritize ruthlessly and build consensus.
• Experience managing a small, high-output team with clear direction.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

• Strong knowledge of trading/markets, able to think in expected value (EV) terms.
• Experience deploying or managing liquidity across multiple chains.
• Comfort reading Solidity and understanding smart contract risk.
• Experience working within a foundation, DAO, or decentralized contributor structure.
