Entry-Level Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking an Entry-Level Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Kiewit. This remote opportunity allows you to assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties while gaining valuable experience in the construction industry. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will perform tasks that require physical labor at construction sites and must have the ability to perform a variety of duties.
What You'll Do
- Assist Diesel Technicians with Preventative Maintenance (PM) work, including oil changes and fluid pressure checks.
- Support Diesel Technicians with major work such as component replacements.
- Help with field repair work and steam/pressure wash equipment.
- Follow instructions from superintendents, foremen, and experienced crew members.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, prioritizing safety at all times.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a Mechanic Vocational Program.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in a related field is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety protocols in a construction environment.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
