About the Role

Join our team as an Emergency Communications Specialist I in a remote capacity! This role is essential for providing critical public contact and communications work necessary for dispatching emergency and non-emergency services. As an Emergency Communications Specialist I, you'll learn and perform vital functions that help maintain public safety.

What You'll Do

  • Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering essential information for dispatch.
  • Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to relay information to law enforcement personnel.
  • Monitor and update CAD systems with real-time information regarding calls and officer statuses.
  • Conduct daily and monthly testing of communication equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Interact effectively with the public, providing assistance and information as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • One year of public safety experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to operate CAD equipment and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English.
  • Must possess CPR and First Aid certification within the initial status period.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in emergency communications.
  • Familiarity with geographical patterns and road systems in Arapahoe County.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
