Director of Retention Marketing - Remote Role with Humor Focus

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Retention Marketing remote to join our vibrant team at Shinesty. Our mission is to make the world take itself less seriously while driving profitable growth through innovative marketing strategies. As the Director of Retention Marketing remote, you will be responsible for enhancing customer lifetime value (LTV) by developing and executing high-performing retention marketing engines.

What You'll Do

• Build and implement clear retention, subscription, and lifecycle strategy frameworks across the customer journey.
• Identify key retention and subscriber value levers such as offers, UX friction, packaging, and onboarding for various customer cohorts.
• Align cross-functional teams on priorities and trade-offs across merchandising, product, acquisition, and creative.
• Lead customer-facing retention channels including Email, SMS, Loyalty, and Direct Mail, optimizing existing efforts and implementing new strategies.
• Create and maintain segmentation frameworks and automations that scale and deliver incremental value.
• Manage and optimize deliverability, creative best practices, and personalization for owned CRM channels.
• Own subscription onboarding, engagement, and recovery strategies to decrease churn.
• Collaborate with merchandising and product teams to ensure irresistible subscription benefits.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of direct experience in lifecycle, CRM channel management, and/or retention marketing.
• Experience growing a digitally native brand and managing a recurring subscription program.
• Deep analytical skills with experience in dashboarding and report building using BI tools.
• Strong understanding of creative factors that impact business results.
• Ability to nurture customer relationships and empower teams to provide standout support.
