About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Director of Operations to join Team Rubicon in a remote capacity. As the Director of Operations, you will play a crucial role in leading our East Branch team, focusing on disaster response and recovery services. This position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in operations management, particularly in the nonprofit sector, and a commitment to making a positive impact in communities across the United States.

What You'll Do

  • Maximize impact in the delivery of Team Rubicon's services, ensuring effective operational support.
  • Inspire, lead, and manage a growing team of full-time employees and volunteers (Greyshirts).
  • Build influence and rapport with strategic governmental and non-governmental partners to enhance collaboration.
  • Foster an award-winning culture of inclusiveness and diversity within the organization.
  • Take ownership of the annual budget for training, engagement, and operations, ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Develop team performance goals and administer performance management processes to drive accountability.
  • Drive leadership engagement to mobilize, inspire, and engage Greyshirts volunteers in disaster response efforts.
  • Innovate disaster response strategies, constantly seeking ways to improve operational support and efficiency.
  • Provide Emergency Operations Center (EOC) support and disaster response coordination across relevant agencies.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of relevant professional experience in disaster response, emergency management, military, or first responder fields.
  • Proven record of personnel management experience, with a focus on team development.
  • Proficient with technology tools for remote communication and coordination.
  • Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in nonprofit management or operations.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery frameworks and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
